The club has over 150 members who are into not only stamp collecting and philately but coins, bank notes and many other collectables. Our club commenced as the 'Bathurst Philatelic Society' in 1895, the first in country NSW and the second in the Colony of NSW. Lapidary and rock collecting is another area under our club banner with workshops Wednesday mornings most weeks.
Meetings include stamp and other displays and regular activities as well as Guest Speakers. Most meetings have a topic upon which to do a mini display of what one collects i.e. stamps, coins etc. Points from these mini displays go towards an annual trophy in 6 categories. Stamp, coin and other workshops are held throughout the year. Mini actions of stamps and other collectables are held also. We encourage all members to bring along to meetings their 'Latest Acquisition' (an item recently purchased, swapped, given, etc. Supper is served at each meeting and new members are warmly welcomed.
A 10 or more page newsletter is published every two months for financial members.

The Hennings and Bathurst (talk by Paul Storm)
Rachel Henning wrote a series of letters that described Bathurst as “an ugly place enough, all brick and dust.” She even said her sister’s house “is not beautiful”. Rachel was born in April 1826, arrived in Australia in 1854, returned to England in 1856, and settled permanently in Australia in 1861. She died in 1914. Her sister Amelia (“Amy”) was born in March 1832 and arrived in Australia with Rachel in October 1854. In September 1855 she married Thomas Sloman, a banker in Bathurst, N.S.W. and travelled to Bathurst which became her home. Uniting Church Hall in William Street
