stamp club in the Lower Hunter region
The Maitland Stamp Club was formed in the early 1970s, originally known as Beresfield & Districts Stamp Club. Many of the original members were RAAF personnel, based at Williamtown RAAF Base. In the 1990s the membership decided to move the location of the club to Maitland and as a result the club changed to its present name.
The focus of the club, however, remained the same; to provide a meeting-place for the pursuit of philately in the lower Hunter region. Our current membership includes people from Singleton, Greta, Weston, Newcastle, Port Stephens as well as the city of Maitland. Maitland is known as the Hub of the Hunter, and this is borne out by our members traveling to our central location.
We have strong links to the Newcastle Philatelic Society, and the majority of our members also hold memberships with that society.
